Thanks to the voices of Physical Therapy lobbyists the Senate passed a bill (H.R. 4691) that provides an extension of physical therapy service cap exceptions through March 31, 2010. Another bill to extended the cap through December 31, 2010 will be voted on in the near future.
What this means for you, as a Medicare beneficiary, is that Medicare will allow for out-patient Physical Therapy benefits for certain diagnosis beyond the current cap as long as there is a medical necessity.
What you can still do is write to your congressman and continue to lobby for the benefits of our Medicare recipients.
